Art Therapy
Art Therapy is often used for individuals who have experienced trauma or have PTSD. Trauma can result from various events, such as accidents, abuse, natural disasters, violence, or other distressing experiences.
-
Art Therapy can help you calm your nervous system as opposed to getting frequently overwhelmed by emotions when you feel triggered.
-
Art Therapy gives you a chance to express feelings about difficult and painful experiences without having to find the words for them.

This expression can refer to :
the art piece
the therapeutic relationship
the therapy office
Often with trauma or PTSD, emotions and experiences can be expressed in and through art making and contained on paper or other materials. Imagine taking the intensity of a memory, scribbling it out on paper, feeling seen and heard by your therapist, and having some sense of relief. Maybe small, maybe brief, but its a start.
